USB Flash Disk PCLock
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary
PCLock System lets you use your computer safely, with no concerns of leaking of privacy.
PCLock is a program run within USB Flash Disk. This program is a super protection system that lets you control the computer with mobility and choice.
Support
This system supports the following platforms: Windows 98/Me/2000/XP OS.
This system supports Pentium 166 MMX and/or above, USB ports necessary.
Functions
The main function of PCLock is to limit the usage freedom of the mouse and keyboard, but it does not prevent others from rebooting the computer and entering DOS mode.
After USB Flash Disk is inserted into the USB port, open File Manager and a "Removable Disk" icon will appear (shown below).
Inside the removable hard disk there is an application called PCLock.exe (shown below).
Double click on the icon and a window like below will appear:
After you see this window, you may then choose whether or not to execute this program right now. If you decided that you do not wish to execute this program at this moment, click "EXIT", and this installation will end.
If you would like to proceed, simply click "OK". This program will now be applied and a message (PCLock running...) will appear at your upper left hand corner (shown below):
At the bottom right hand corner an icon of a key will appear (see right). When you see this icon, it that means your computer is ready to execute PCLock at any time. Under this mode, whenever you unplug USB Flash Disk PCLock will be triggered. The below message will then appear, and you may safely leave your computer.
The above explanations are the basic instructions to using PCLock. To get into further detail about protection settings please refer to the PCLock settings subject.
In the Instruction Manual subject, the following message will appear when the program is executed:
The PCLock Settings menu mainly lets you customize your hint message contents when the program is running. Also, it will let you choose the method to enter your computer again.
If you want to change the message on the PCLock screen, simply enter the message that you would like to appear on the text box named hint message. If you want to edit the looks of the text, click on "Font" (shown below):
And you can successfully edit the format of the text.
In the PCLock settings you will find a field called "Protect Time". This box is mainly for you to lengthen or shorten the security period. The computer will then use the information entered and adjust the length of the period accordingly.
In PCLock, the effective security period settings are:
1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, and 24 hours.
What is the function of security period settings?
Here is an example to help you better understand the function of the security period. If you set the security period to one hour, the PCLock will be triggered. After one hour, the computer will restore itself back to normal, and the security system unlocked. Or, you can insert USB Flash Disk again within this period and your computer will also restore back to normal.
If you would like this system to automatically shut down your computer after it is started, simply select "OK & PowerDown" from the settings window. Now the system will run itself and shut down the computer for you.
