Norton e ZCFgSVC.EXE aiuto consiglio

Ciao a tutti,
sono nuovo mi chiamo Propoli.

Ho un asus Z92vc da inizio anno funziona perfettamente ma a giugno si rompe la scheda video. Lo porto in assistenza e dopo 2 mesi me ne danno uno nuovo stesso modello (vi racconto questo un po' per spiegarvi la storia).
Contento per il pc nuovo invece che aggiustato ma infastidito dal fatto di dover reinstallare tutto comincio:

I signori oltre che al windows XP mi hanno installato una versione trial di 90 giorni di norton antivirus.
Installo office con microsoft outlook, ci copio dentro il mio vecchio outlook.pst di posta (in modo tale da mantenere tutti i messaggi vecchi) e configuro l'account di posta con l'indirizzo di posta yahoo.it.
Riesco a spedire e ricevere i messaggi, ma alla fine della ricezione mi compare l'errore:

ERRORE DELL'ATTIVITà -RICEZIONE IN CORSO (0x800ccc90) "Errore interno del Server di posta in arrivo POP3. Se si continua a ricevere questo messaggio contattare l'amministratore del server o il provider di servizi internet(ISP). Il server ha risposto: -ERR problem retrieving message"

E dopo questo all'eventuale Invio/ricevi riscarico gli stessi messaggi presenti sul server (per motivi di necessità lascio una copia dei messaggi sul server)

Dopo varie ricerche arrivo alla soluzione, abbastanza ovvia che è colpa del Norton Antivirus, lo disinstallo con il tools di rimozione

Il Norton non c'e' piu' ma outlook si blocca, in realtà pare che ogni 2 secondi il notebook si blocchi.

Task manager tra i processi noto un certo ZCFgSVC.EXE che impegna il 100% della CPU a tempo pieno. Se interrrompo il processo a volte nessun problema a volte ok, ma al riavvio il processo esiste di nuovo impegnando il 100%.

Faccio delle ricerche su ZCFgSVC.EXE

Zero Config MFC Application Windows 2000/XP/2003 Service, part of Intel’s ProSET utilities and installed by the drivers for many of Intel wireless network cards, whether onboard as seen in some laptops (e.g. Intel Pro Wireless 2100 in Dell laptops amongst others), or in the shape of PCMCIA wireless network cards (e.g. Intel Pro Wireless 2011). This task provides background support functions for the Intel ProSET utilities which enable you to configure your wireless adapter and connection through the Intel ProSET icon in the System Tray.

Recommendation :
This is a difficult one. First, ZCFGSVC is actually essential to the proper functioning of many of the Intel ProSET utilities (but not all) and, as with most wireless adapters, whether from Intel or not, these System Tray ProSET utilities are a must if you are using your wireless connection, if only so you know when the signal is fading or dropping. Most importantly, part of the ProSET utilities are responsible for sending out the Wireless network name (SSID) that you need to connect to; so if you fully de‑install the ProSET utilities, you will not be able to connect to your wireless network. Thus, if you are using your wireless adapter, you should in principle keep this service and the ProSET utilities. The problem is that, in some PCs, ZCFGSVC can be incredibly badly behaved : taking up to 100% of CPU time and therefore resulting in an extremely slow PC, preventing the installation of software or Windows updates, or causing “Not Responding” or “End this Program” shutdown problems. If you experience this, try first the very latest drivers from Intel or your laptop manufacturer. If that still does not solve the problem and you have Windows XP/2003, try setting the “Wireless Zero Configuration” service to Disabled. If that still does not solve the problem, then try renaming the C:\Windows\System32\ZCfgSvc.exe file to ZCfgSvc.exe.old as ZCFGSVC is seemingly not necessary for the part of the ProSET utilities which enable you to connect to your wireless network.


Sicuramente non disabilitero' il servizio visto che vorrei avere il wireless funzionante.
Provero' a scaricare e installare l'intel pro/wireless (appena capisco il codice della scheda sul mio pc)
e i driver nuovi della wireless sul sito di asus per la z92vc.
Sperando che funzioni, ma non ne sono affatto convinto

La mia preoccupazione è che pur ristabilento una sorta di normalità il caro norton abbia lasciato residui in giro........ che mi andranno in conflitto con applicazioni future.
Mi conviene ricominciare da capo?
In questo caso come funziono i recovery disc dei portatili???? non devo riinstallare tutto il SO e driver annessi, spero?!

Per evitare eventualmente tutto cio' come faccio a togliermi l'impegno dallo ZCFgSVC.EXE senza disattivarlo?!

Veramente hai scritto tu stesso che "as ZCFGSVC is seemingly not necessary for the part of the ProSET utilities which enable you to connect to your wireless network."
Sembrerebbe che questo file non è proprio necessario per il funzionamento della wireless. Prova a rinominare il file e al limite, se la connessione wi-fi non funge, lo rimetti il nome di prima.

Tanto per rendervi partecipi, ho deciso per il recovery disc....
e poi do disinstallato il norton con l'installa applicazioni.
Non era proprio il norton, era quella versione trial messa con il recovery ma non ancora installata....

E poi ho messo su un bel AVGfree e tutto funziona

la symantec non potrebbe mettersi a fare prosciutti invece che AV

Meglio di no, non riuscirei a sopportare l'idea di mangiare un panino al norton e formaggio............................
