Salve a tutti ragazzi, ogni tanto torno con qualche rompicapo.
Stavolta ho riportato in vita un vecchio Fujitsu Siemens Amilo, con processore Pentium M da 1500 MHz e 512 di Ram; ci ho installato, dopo tante peripezie, Lubuntu 11.4 e riscontro un problema nella configurazione della scheda di rete wireless;

Potrebbe essere un problema di firmware....

... prova a controllare i messaggi del kernel, magari con qualcosa tipo...

Come volevasi dimostrare, non trova il firmware.

Ora, devi reperirlo, scaricarlo (compilarlo o estrarlo), poi metterlo nel percorso /lib/firmware se non ricordo male.

Leggendo in giro mi sembra di capire che il firmware è reperibile, solo che il server dei link attualmente non è raggiungibile...

... visto il dominio, spero che sia nuovamente online il prima possibile.

Ero in attesa fiducioso della riattivazione del server, ma penso che il problema non fosse lui. Ancora non ho completato ma credo che possa risolvere installando il pacchetto "linux-firmware-nonfree" in giro avevo trovato un nome del pacchetto forse errato che mi dava l'impossibilità di trovarlo.
Ho appena dato il comando

e sembra procedere bene;

Il pacchetto contiene il driver segnalato dall'output

Purtoppo no; appena rientro dovrò continuare a smanettare;
Dopo l'installazione, però nei messaggi del kernel era sparita la stringa isl3886; dando il

dmesg | grep isl

non avevo nessun output, ma se non erro (nn ho il notebook sottomano) avevo un messaggio di "Cannot boot firmware" su una ieee80211;
Spero bene, altrimenti cosa potrei postarvi?

Penso che basti rinominarlo in isl3886pci mettendolo in /lib/firmware

Ho pensato che potesse essere disabilitata l'interfaccia pci dal bios ma non ci trovo neanche la voce...è un bios molto scarno.

accetto il consiglio e procedo nella ricerca firmware... vedo qualche altro adattatore che motna lo stesso chipset e cerco di trovare qualcosa; se ci riesco avrete mie notizie, postando la soluzione...
