Ciao a tutti.
Ho due AP-ripetitori della tp-link, e entrambi supportano le modalità WDS e Universal Repeater.
Vorrei che qualche guru della rete mi spiegasse le differenze fra le 2 modalità.
Nella GUI dei miei tp-link la differenza è trattata così:

WDS: The AP client can connect to AP with WDS enabled or disabled. If WDS is enabled, all traffic from wired networks will be forwarded in the format of WDS frames consist of four address fields. If WDS is disabled, three address frames are used. If your AP supports WDS well, please select the option.

Universal Repeater: The Universal Repeater mode is the AP with its own BSS and with WDS disabled that relays data to a root AP, to which it is associated. The wireless repeater relays signal between its stations and the root AP for greater wireless range. Please input the MAC address of root AP in the field of MAC of AP.

Ma io non ci ho capito molto.
Il mio scopo è quello di estendere la mia rete wi-fi.

premesso che non sono un guru della rete [;)]

usali come universal repeater, dalle istruzioni che hai postato devi semplicemente impostargli il mac address dell'access point principale (root), ed ovviamente devi fare l'opportuna configurazione di rete e subnet su ogni apparato, per evitare repliche di indirizzi.
se non lo hai mai fatto, nel manuale sicuramente trovi tutte le istruzioni su come fare la configurazione.
